Domain Vital Check

DNS RECORD LOOKUP

DNS lookup

Enter a domain to see the DNS records it publishes in public DNS, with each record’s TTL and the response status. Or enter an IP address to see its reverse (PTR) record. Results are raw answers from one public resolver, not a verdict.

Enter a domain only, without https:// or a path. An IP address is looked up for PTR records only.

Record types

DS and DNSKEY show only whether DNSSEC records are published; the chain is not validated.

ABOUT DNS RECORDS

What do these records mean?

  • A and AAAA map a name to IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
  • CNAME makes a name an alias of another name. Resolvers follow it, so an A query on an alias also shows the CNAME in the chain.
  • MX lists the mail servers for a domain, with a priority. NS lists its authoritative name servers.
  • TXT holds free text such as SPF and verification tokens. SOA holds zone administration data. CAA lists which certificate authorities may issue certificates.
  • “No record found” means the name exists but has no record of that type. “NXDOMAIN” means the name does not exist. “DNS lookup failed” means we could not get an answer, which is different from an empty answer.

Interested in monitoring?

Save a pending interest request for a future monitoring feature.

We store your email as a pending request for up to 90 days. We will not send updates until a separate confirmed opt-in process is available. The domain names or IP addresses you look up are sent to Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS; this site does not store results. To limit abuse, your IP address is used briefly: the lookup and waitlist features turn it (network prefix only for IPv6) into a keyed, one-way identifier that holds a request count for at most about 70 minutes, then is deleted. The IP address itself and your lookups or email are not stored with that counter. This page uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies. The page address it reports does not include the domain or IP address you looked up, because we remove it from the address bar when the page loads. Like any request to Cloudflare, it receives your IP address. To remove an address, use Remove my email.
